Torbreck The Struie Shiraz 2017

Region Barossa Valley, SA Variety Shiraz
Crafted from both Barossa and Eden Valley Shiraz, this charming wine is a tribute to the remarkable viticultural regions of South Australia. The Eden Valley fruit is sourced from 44-year-old vines that impart floral and spicy notes, while the lower altitude 80-year-old Barossa Shiraz delivers more dense whispers of tar and chocolate. Aged for 18 months in a mix of old and new French oak barriques, the palate is silky smooth and vibrant. An elegant, intense and complex wine.

James Halliday,

Vintage 2013 - A blend of Barossa and Eden Valleys. An extremely powerful and complex wine, with a major question hanging over its head in the form of tis alcohol; there is an ocean of black fruits, but the alcohol warmth is a take it or leave it issue.

Robert Parker,

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 "The Struie" has a very youthful crushed black berry and black currant nose with licorice, dark chocolate and tar suggestions. Full-bodied with a taut, muscular palate and solid backbone of chewy tannins, this is a sturdy, rugged style, which should mellow a bit with a few years in cellar.
