Torbreck The Laird Shiraz 1.5L Magnum 2008
Planted in 1958, the five acres of meticulously hand-tended, unirrigated Shiraz vines that deliver The Laird is embedded in very dark heavy clay loam over red friable clay. The resulting small, concentrated berries produced consistently make it the envy of all winemakers in the valley.
2008 proved to be a very difficult year with a great growing season ruined by a record heat wave, but winemaking mastery delivered an outstanding Shiraz that is rich and complex with perfectly judged tannin and divine balance.
