Robert Oatley Pennant Chardonnay 2013
The Pennant wines stand at the pinnacle of the Oatley family’s winemaking expression. Just two varieties are produced: Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. They are handmade wines produced in very limited quantities from the best barrels off the most prized vineyard blocks.
Multi-layered, refined, fine and long, this perfectly integrated Margaret River Chardonnay reveals the highlights of nine months in tight-grained low toast French oak and natural yeast ferment.

VintAGE 2013 - Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed direct to new French oak, wild-fermented, matured for 10 months, no racking or batonnage, 6 barrels made. This is an exceptional wine, showing that less can be the hardest. References to Burgundy irritate some, so I tend to stay away unless I feel strongly, as I do here. This is Australia's answer to Montrachet, and a convincing one at that. This is going up to the house.
