CHANDON S

A THROWBACK TO 1940'S CASABLANCA AND THE INVENTION OF THE MODERN CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL

Chandon S is inspired by the classic Champagne cocktail ordered by Victor Lazlo in the iconic 1942 film, ‘Casablanca’.

INTRODUCING CHANDON S

Chandon S is an infusion of sparkling wine and bitters. A throwback to 1940’s Casablanca and the invention of the modern Champagne cocktail.

Combining a base of Chandon Brut and handmade orange bitters crafted by the Chandon winemakers, this new drop on the block is a refreshing and thoughtful alternative to bubbles for parties and knock-off drinks.

CHANDON SIGNATURE BITTERS

Originally concocted as a medical treatment, bitters are used to flavour some of our favourite tipples, from the Old Fashioned to the Manhattan.

It’s basically an alcoholic preparation flavoured by some sort of botanical matter, whether that’s fruit, herbs, bark, roots or a combination. The flavour profile is generally bitter, sour or bittersweet.

BENDING THE 'SPARKLING' RULES

Blending signature Chandon Sparkling and a bespoke handcrafted recipe for bitters, Chandon S sings with zesty orange and subtle spice. Orange peel brings aromatic citrus notes, while fresh ginger and dried spice infusions add an exotic element. Gentian root extract delivers a delicate bitterness to the palate.

Méthode Traditionelle

A BLEND OF TRADITIONAL AND INNOVATION

All the signature elements of Chandon have been maintained. - Vibrant Chardonnay, spicy Pinot Noir, fermentation and bottle age to establish the gentle beads and mousse. After that point, the rules are broken with an innovative approach to dosing bottle aged wine with the handcrafted Orange Bitters.

PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES

In crafting this drink the Chandon team went a drop further than just adding a pre-made bitters concoction.

They charged their winemaking team with concocting a custom recipe that would complement Chandon Brut and achieve the desired aromatic outcome.

The outcome is dominated by orange (they burned through 300 kilograms of oranges in their search) but the brandy spirit is also infused with five other key ingredients: Gentian root, fresh ginger, vanilla pods, cinnamon quills and green cardamom pods.

ONE EYE FIRMLY FIXED ON THE FUTURE

Chandon has always been a brand with one eye fixed firmly on the future.

In the 1970s, they were the first French house to look at New World opportunities to create bold and exciting sparkling wines. The same rings true now, almost fifty years later.

    Whiskies of The World

While Scotland’s tradition in whisky holds a special place in the hearts of connoisseurs around the world, other nations have a celebrated history of their own, complete with their own rules on how they are distilled.

Whisky and Whiskey In all of that research you’ve undoubtedly done (just kidding) you might have wondered why this miraculous liquid is spelled differently from time to time. The use of the letter ‘e’ comes down to, simply enough, the origin of the drink. The Irish and Americans spell it with an ‘e’, while the Scots, Canadians, Japanese and the rest of the world leave it out and use ‘whisky'. The country of origin will inform production methods, based on tradition and legalities, and therefore affect style and profile. Irish Whiskey Includes any whiskey made in Ireland or Northern Ireland, using any malted grains in any proportion.

It must be aged in wooden casks for at least three years Japanese Whisky Usually made in the same way as Scotch, a recent spike in worldwide appreciation is in spite of the fact it has been made since the 1920s. Japanese whiskies are rightfully attracting their share of devotees. American Whiskies Bourbon is made from malted grains consisting of at least 51% corn.

While it must be made entirely in the United States, the rules are otherwise more relaxed than its Scottish peers. Straight Bourbon refers to a Bourbon distilled in a single state of the United States, which has been matured for a minimum of two years and does not include any additives. Blended Bourbon must be made from at least half straight bourbon, but can include other spirits and flavourings. Tennessee Whiskey is almost identical to bourbon, but there is charcoal filtering in the post-distillation process. Rye will vary depending on where it is made. In the United States, it must be fermented from a mixture of grains that include at least half rye.
