Cape Mentelle Trinders Cabernet Merlot 2016
The wine captures the depth and structure of Cabernet with the dark fruit and plush Merlot flavours and a touch of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc in complement.
Red berry compote, plums and cherries fill the nose with herbs, fresh tobacco leaves, cedar and caramelised oak. On the silky, elegant palate of sweet cherries and blackberries are hints of cracked peppercorn, liquorice, vanilla, a light smoky oak influence and Black Forest cake on the finish.

One of my favourite cabernet merlot blends. This one is showing classical lines of cigar box and leafy black fruits. Such a supple palate, yet one with tremendous depth and fruit intensity. Fine powdery tannins and nicely weighted oak balance the fruit perfectly. A very classy wine.
