New chef in the kitchenTHE bistro at the Albion Hotel in Wickham has welcomed new head chef James Christensen.He has worked in London, Edinburgh and St Tropez in France.Most recently, he occupied the kitchen at the Hunter Valley's Shakey Tables, where he was instrumental in helping the restaurant win the best modern Australian dining category in the Restaurant and Caterers Association Awards.Christensen has been busy putting the final touches to a fresh new menu for Bistro Albion.In other news, Coopers Brewery head brewer Dr Tim Cooper will host a five-course beer dinner at the Albion on April 7.Then in May the pub will launch comedy dinner shows.The Comedy House will be hosted by comic Austen Tayshus.The comedy dinners will be held on the first Thursday of the month from May 5.Get help to be a home expertTHOSE hoping to become home and entertaining experts might want to pop into the food and lifestyle interactive exhibition30 Days of Home, Food and Wine at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion from April 16 to 23.Daily seminars will be held at the custom-built "live house", where leading design, style and culinary experts will offer practical tips on how to incorporate the latest trends into your home and lifestyle.Celebrity chef Manu Feildel will host free chocolate cooking demonstrations on April 16 from 12.30pm and 2pm.Adriano Zumbo will also host chocolate masterclasses on April 21 from 6pm and 7.30pm, for $50 a ticket.There will also be wine masterclasses, renovation and decorating workshops and garden demonstrations.Register for the free seminars and events throughout April at 30daysofhomefoodandwine.com.au.
