WHEN Louise Campbell, pictured, was a girl she was not allowed to drink communion wine from the chalice at church because she was Aboriginal.
Yesterday, Ms Campbell showed just how far the Catholic Church and indigenous Catholics have come when she stood among more than 20 Aboriginal elders in a papal guard of honour for Pope Benedict XVI.Ms Campbell, who is the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle's Catholic Schools Office Aboriginal education officer, is leading 50 indigenous Hunter youth to celebrations in Sydney.
