Coolangatta Comes Up Roses In Awards

COOLANGATTA Estate enjoyed a major coup this week after it received the best rose award at the 2008 Australian Boutique Wine Awards.
It was a great night for owners Greg and Eileen Bishop with the Shoalhaven-based estate picking up six medals for varieties including tannat, verdelho and semillon in Sydney on Monday night.Mr Bishop said he was particularly pleased to see the 2008 Coolangatta Estate rose do so well because it strengthened its portfolio of major award-winning wines.It was the fourth time they had won a Best in Class award at the show.Its previous successes include its verdelho, sparkling chardonnay and semillon. Centennial Vineyards' Melinda Haylock also returned from Sydney with good news.The Southern Highlands estate scored a gold medal and a trophy for its 2004 Centennial Vineyards Reserve cabernet sauvignon merlot.Centennial's 2006 Reserve shiraz viognier and its 2006 Reserve sangiovese were awarded silver medals and its 2006 Reserve barbera and 2006 Woodside chardonnay received bronze.Further information at www.boutiquewines.com.au.
