JANET Martin was always proud of her links to one of the Hunter's premier wine-making families.
It was only fitting Mrs Martin, a Wyndham on her mother's side, found a final resting place in front of the heritage-listed Dalwood House at Wyndham Estate Winery in Dalwood, her husband Ian Martin said. Her ashes were scattered yesterday before Dalwood House, where her forebears first lived during the 1880s. Mrs Martin, who died at her adopted home in Warrnambool, Victoria, last November, was the great-great-granddaughter of George Wyndham, who in 1830 first seeded the Wyndham name deep in the Hunter's history books.Mrs Martin revelled in her heritage, her husband told those assembled, including distant family members from the College and Dalton lines of Wyndham, at yesterday's ceremony.Mr Martin said there was not a day that passed where she would not speak of her heritage and the Wyndham legacy. "She was always very proud of all this," Mr Martin said.
