THE pubs take over in Pokolbin on New Year's Eve as most revellers in wine country head to Harrigan's Irish Pub or Potter's Hotel and Brewery.
Harrigan's, near Hunter Valley Gardens, is serving up two helpings of fireworks, with a midnight show and an earlier 9pm display, and jumping castle for the children.Full Circle will entertain the crowd on the terrace from 9.30pm while a DJ will provide dance tunes in the sports bar until 2am."It is an excellent night for families, children and the younger crowd to kick on with the DJ in the sports bar," duty manager Chris Codd saidHunter Valley Gardens Christmas lights display will shine from 6.30pm until 10pm. The display ends on January 3. Entry is $12.50 for adults and $7.50 for children six to 12 years, with children five or under free.Potter's Hotel and Brewery will have a jumping castle and face painting for children from 4pm.A karaoke DJ will get partygoers singing until 12.30am.
