THE second stage of the NSW Wine Awards will take place at a gala dinner in Sydney on Tuesday, October 21, when the NSW Wine of the Year and sectional trophy winners will be announced.
The NSW wine industry's highest accolade, the Graham Gregory Award, will be presented on the night and wines entered in the competition will be available for tasting at the NSW Wine@Wharf 8 Expo the following day. Wharf 8 is at 53-59 Hickson Road, Sydney. A media and trade session between 11am and 4.30pm will be followed by a public session from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. For $35 entry, participants will get a tasting glass and gourmet cheese tasting. For bookings or more information go to www.nswwine.com.au or 02 6964 4762.The president of the NSW Wine Industry Association, David Lowe, said the aim of NSW Wine @ Wharf 8 was to encourage NSW people to support the State's winemakers. "Most people can't name more than two or three NSW wine regions and NSW wine is under-represented in bottle shops and restaurants," he said.
