Riesling

Riesling originates from the Rhine region in Germany, and this white wine is one of Germany's most important contributions to the global wine scene. Being one of the most unique, popular and versatile wines, Riesling is also a favourite among wine drinkers and it is known to age longer than most other popular whites on the market.

Germany isn't the only place to produce top quality Riesling, though, and Australia, New Zealand, France and the United States have all produced world-class Rieslings in the past. The best quality Riesling will age well, and it proves to be the exception to the rule with ageing white wine as some bottles are aged into the decades. However, most Rieslings are intended to be consumed within a few years of vintage.

The high acidity levels go particularly well with salads, light lunches, seafood and some Asian cuisine.
