Profile

For many years Karen was always embarrassed about her love of wine!

There was nothing she loved more than to tootle off into the country side on a wine tasting jaunt........Long before she admitted her love of the grape, wine tours seemed to appear on travel itineraries and in her spare time on weekends.....repeatedly.

Growing up in regional Australia's foodie capital Mildura, and being surrounded by vineyards in her early years obviously had a big impact on her direction.

Wine regions around Mildura, The Yarra Valley, various regions throughout South Australia, the Granite Belt in northern NSW, the Tamar region in Tassie, Wairapara of New Zealand, the Napa Valley in the USA, Stellenbosch in South Africa were all visited long before the passion was let lose!

But the good news is that Karen's over the embarrassment now and all this experience your benefit!

Clearly a self confessed wine lover, in mid 2008 she combined her passions and created Food and Wine Travel for like minded independent travelers - certainly the newest trend in travel today.

And the foodie thing? Well Karen is known for saying 'Good food follows good wine'. 'Bad food in wine regions is impossible. It's like an ugly vineyard -it just doesn't exist.' says Karen. 'If you're a wine lover, you can't help but be a food lover. The two are inextricably linked'.

If it's too short you could add two or three 'module' ideas together. Even combine countries. There is no limit to what you can do (perhaps only your time and budget!!!) OR Add it to your existing plans for travel. It's not unusual to just add a 4 or 5 day 'experience' to your current holiday. Some are 'test-driving' to see if they like the concept, others are short on time, or just want to do something different. What ever your reason you will find a module to fit nicely into your plans. Remember everything is flexible and is designed to fit in with YOU. THEN Contact Food and Wine Travel to make your plans a reality. Even if you are totally confused - pick up the phone and we will make it all easy for you. How Does Food and Wine Travel Work? Two ways - if you need ideas just use the search functions on the site to search by either 'Country' or 'Country' & 'Region', to find some tasty suggestions for your next holiday. You may find exactly what you're after - or there may be something close to what you would like to do. Either way that's fine. Everything you see on the site is perfectly flexible and can be tailored to suit you. OR If you already know where you'd like to go and what you'd like to do, just tell us! We will help fill in the gaps with lots of tasty suggestions, and give you a hand with the logistics, ensuring you have a food and wine experiences that add depth to your destination experience. You don't need to find it on the website first. We have thousands of options at our fingertips that aren't even loaded! What is Food and Wine Travel? First and foremost it's a travel agency. But there's more! It's an agency that exists solely for the purpose of creating holidays for food and wine lovers. Think Travel Agent crossed with Gourmet Traveller and Winestate Magazines with a little bit of Masterchef thrown in for fun, and you should have a vision of what's on offer! It's the lastest craze in travel and all things YUMMMM. It makes perfect sense to add our foodie and wine loving desires to our holidays. All holidays are created for YOU, which means no set departures or travelling in groups. YOU decide when to travel and HOW you'd like the experience to unfold. Each holiday is hand made. Which may lead you to think it could be expensive...........actually NO! Unlike other travel agencies, Food and Wine Travel deals directly with the people who look after you at your destination which cuts out the 'middle man' and keeps your costs surprisingly low. Not only that - on most occasions we personally know these people who host, guide, welcome, transfer, and accommodate you. That way we can ensure you get exactly the experience you're looking for. No longer will you spend hours trawling the internet for the perfect food and/or wine addition to your holiday. You won't have to guess if the company's reputable or whether your money will be well spent (and safe!). There'll be no more issues with languge barriers and foreign exchange rates - not to mention those pesky hidden taxes that seem to pop up when booking something online. Food and Wine Travel makes it simple. We source the best experiences, just for you, then put it in plain speak and ensure you know precisely what's invovled every step of the way. And by the way.... If you can't see what you want here on the website don't worry! Chances are within our international network of 'food and wine friends' we will be able to source exactly what you're after. Just ask!
